Richard Gaines 
Richard was born about 1813 in Kentucky. Richard's father was Stephen Gaines and his mother was Martha Patsy Waldrop. His paternal grandparents were Richard Gaines and Elizabeth Flint; his maternal grandparents were Shadrack Waldrop and Martha Patsy Couch. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Nimrod, James A., Joseph, George, John Francis Pendleton, Elizabeth F., Rebecca, Everella, Mary Ellen, Nancy and Martha. He was the fifth oldest of the twelve children. He died about 1852 in Crawford Co.,IL.-
