Martha Gaines 
Martha was born in 1828 in Illinois. Martha's father was Stephen Gaines and her mother was Martha Patsy Waldrop. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Gaines and Elizabeth Flint; her maternal grandparents were Shadrack Waldrop and Martha Patsy Couch. She had six brothers and five sisters, named Nimrod, James A., Richard, Joseph, George, John Francis Pendleton, Elizabeth F., Rebecca, Everella, Mary Ellen and Nancy. She was the second youngest of the twelve children.-
