Sarah was born in 1841. Sarah's father was Simon Christi and her mother was Elizabeth Pierson. Her maternal grandparents were John Pierson and Nancy P. Gee. She had five brothers and three sisters, named John W., Henry, James, F. Tilghman, Jennings P., dau, Mary and Amanda. She was the fifth oldest of the nine children.-
