His paternal grandparents were Comte Gilbert (Crispin) de Brionne and Gunnora D'Aunou; his maternal grandparents were Baron Walter ("The Elder") Giffard and Agnes Ermentrude Fleitel. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Richard Fitz Richard, Gilbert Fitz Richard, Agnes, Rohese and Lady de Clare. He had a half-brother named Robert. He died at the age of 72 in 1136 in England. He was buried in St. Neot's Priory,Huntingdonshire,England.General Notes
