Walter, known as "The Elder", was born about 1010 in Longueville, Normandy, France. "The Elder"'s father was Osbern de Bolebec and his mother was Duchess Avelina Aveline deCrepon. His paternal grandparents were Sir. Herbastus Herfast deCrepon and Mrs-Herbastus deCrepon; his maternal grandparents were Sir. Herbastus Herfast deCrepon and Mrs-Herbastus deCrepon. He was an only child. He died in Styford, Northumberland, England. He was buried in Companion of William I at Battle of Hastings.1 1 General Notes
Was both a Baron and an Earl.
Walter was present at the Battle of Hastings, witnessed the Charter of Henry I.
