His paternal grandparents were * John Dalton and *Anne Wiggins. He had three brothers and a sister, named Alfred, Robert John, Thomas and Caroline. Arrived on 'Emily' at Port Adelaide 8 Aug 1849. Some sources suggest he was born in France. Died of Inflammation of the Lungs.
