Adam was born about 1050 in Bruis,,Normandie.1   Adam's father was Robert de BRUSSE and his mother was Emma de Bretagne.  His paternal grandparents were Ragnvald (Rognvald) II Brusesson [EARL OF ORKNEY] and Arlogia Vladimirovna Countess of Orkney; his maternal grandparents were Alain III Bretagne duke and Mathilde de Gand. He had four brothers and four sisters, named William I, Allan, Robert, Robert I, Philina, Hortolina, Amicia and Agatha.  He was the third oldest of the nine children. He had a half-brother named Roger.  He died about 1080 in Skelton Castle,Yorkshire,England.1

‌Adam and Emma de were married in a religious ceremony about 1066 in <,,Bretagne,France>.1   They had three sons and two daughters, named William de, Duncan de, Robert I, Agatha and Rosselina de.
