His paternal grandparents were William I Longsword Duke of Normandy and Sproata (Adela) of Senlis; his maternal grandparents were Herbastus Herfast of Arques de Crêpon and Gyrithe (Olafsdotter) Queen of Denmark. He had ten brothers and five sisters, named William of , Count of Eu, Godfrey D'Eu &, Robert de, Robert, Mauger Count of, Mauger De, Mr de, Robert, Mauger Of, Robert, Havoise or Hawise de, Matilda de, Maud de, Beatrice (or Beatrix) of and Emma Princess Of. He had six half-brothers and a half-sister, named William d', William, Godfrey, Roger, Rudolph, Robert de and Papia. He died at the age of 65 on August 28th, 1027 in Fecamp,S-Infr,France. Richard II, byname RICHARD THE GOOD, French RICHARD le BON (d. 1026/27), duke of Normandy (996-1026/27), son of Richard I the Fearless. He held his own against a peasant insurrection, helped Robert II of France against the duchy of Burgundy, and repelled an English attack on the Cotentin Peninsula that was led by the Anglo-Saxon king Ethelred II the Unready.
