Raoul I De was born in 1164 in La Marche,Poitou,France.1   Raoul I De's father was Hugh IX De Lusignan and his mother was Mathilde De Angouleme.  His paternal grandparents were Hugh VIII "Le Brun" Sire De Lusignan and Bourgogne De Rancon; his maternal grandparents were Guillaume (William) IV Taillefer [COUNT OF ANGOUL and Emma De Limoges. He had a half-brother named Hugh X De.  He died at the age of 55 on May 1st, 1219 in Shenton,Leicestershire,England.  He was buried in Fontblanche Priory,Exoudun.2

‌Raoul I De and Alice de Eu de Hastings were married in a religious ceremony in 1191.1   They had a son and two daughters, named Raoul de Lusignan II, Maud de Lusignan and Jehanne.
