Godgifu was born about 1017 in Wessex,England. Godgifu's father was King Aethelred II (the Unready) De Wessex and her mother was Emma De Normandy. Her paternal grandparents were King Edgar I ("the Peaceful") De Wessex and Elfrida De Mercia. She had three brothers and a sister, named Edric, Edward III, Alfred Aldred and Godgifu Goda De. She was the youngest of the five children. She had seven half-brothers and six half-sisters, named "Ironside", Aethelstan, Ironside, Edred, Ecgbert, Edwy, Edgar, Elfgifu, Aelgifu Elgiva, Edith, Wulfhilda, Elgifu and ?. She died about 1055.-
