Alexius I was born in 1048 in Constantinople,Byzantium (now Turkey).  Alexius I's father was Ioannis Comnenus and his mother was Anna "Augusta" Byzantine Regent Dalassena PHARO.  His paternal grandparents were Manuel Comnenus and Anna; his maternal grandparents were Alexius Prefect of Italy PHARO and Dalassana DELASSENOS. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Manuel Comnenus Curopalate, Isaac Comnenus Sebastrocrator, Alexius I Comnenus Emperor, Adrionos Comnenus, Nikephoros Comnenus, Maria Comnena, Eudocia Comnena and Theodora Comnena.  He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 70 on August 15th, 1118.


Alexius I's family with Irene Ducaena

‌Alexius I and Irene were married in a religious ceremony about 1078.  They had three sons and three daughters, named Ioannes II Komnenos Dukas Emperor of, Isaac, John II, Theodora, Euphrosyne and Theodora.
