Ludwig I Duke was born on December 23rd, 1174 in <Of,Kelheim,Niederbayern,Bavaria>.1 Ludwig I Duke's father was Otto I (V) Bavaria and his mother was Agnes of Looz-Reineck. His paternal grandparents were Count Otto IV of Wittlesbach and Princess Heilika of Burg-Lengenfeld; his maternal grandparents were Count Ludwig I of Looz and Agnes von Metz. He had five sisters named Sophie, Agnes of, Richardis, Heilwich of and Mathilde. He was the third youngest of the six children. He had four half-sisters named Agnes von, Heilike, Mathilde and Sophia Von. He died at the age of 56 on September 15th, 1231.1 General Notes
