John Gappa was born on July 28th, 1856 in Coffee Co., AL.1 John Gappa's father was Gappa Talmadge Yelverton and his mother was Martha Brown Simmons. His maternal grandparents were William Burrell Simmons and Dority Henderson. He had three brothers and six sisters, named William Gappa, George Goldthwate, Henry Bryant, Frances Virginia, Narcissa Eugena, Mary Alabama, Martha Blanch, Christiana Eldies and Laura Elenor. He was the fourth youngest of the ten children. He died at the age of 42 in June 1899 in ?.1 -
