Sarah Ann was born about 1840 in GA.1 Sarah Ann's father was Joseph P. Sears and her mother was Elizabeth Sarah Love. Her paternal grandparents were Wyatt Sears and Frances Sutterfield. She had four brothers and five sisters, named John W., James Andy, Robert Thomas, William S., Francis, Martha Jane, Mary, Susan and Alsey Caroline. She was the oldest of the ten children.
