Her paternal grandparents were Arthur Rushing and Delilah Williams; her maternal grandparents were David Huffman and Martha Sally Rambo. She had three brothers and six sisters, named David Oliver, William T. M., Zebulon Montgomery, Martha G., Sarah Snow, Rachel Rebecca, Missouri Arnett, Mary Queen and Queen Mary. She was the second oldest of the ten children.-
