Her paternal grandparents were Baron Dekalb Rushing and UNKNOWN Sirena. She had four brothers and five sisters, named James Mason, Willie J., Morris Elliard, Michael Porter, Cardell Serena, Rebecca Elizabeth, Carrie G., Adeline and Vitra.
