Sarah Jane was born on August 6th, 1860 in Pike Co., AL.1 Sarah Jane's father was Willoughby Sims Pugh and her mother was Elizabeth Pheebe Rushing. Her paternal grandparents were Burrell B. Pugh and Barbara C. Smith; her maternal grandparents were William Cain Rushing and Mary Ann Rushing. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Burrel Washington, William Heny, Mary Barbara and Lydia Lucinda. She was the third oldest of the five children. She died at the age of 88 on November 5th, 1948 in OK. She was buried in Mangum, Greer Co., OK.1 1 General Notes
