Ira was born in 1799 in Laurens Co., SC.1 Ira's father was Jesse* Pugh and his mother was Lydia* Sims. His paternal grandfather was Willoughby* Pugh; his maternal grandparents were Zachariah* Sims and Elizabeth* Graves. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Mastin B., Burrell B., Albert Downing, Lewis Harrison, Jesse C., Melinda, Elizabeth, Mary Ann Polly, Mary* Ann "Polly", Adaline and Martha Ann. He was the third oldest of the twelve children. He died in Lowndes Co., AL.1 -
