Note: H. Alexander Logan married in Morgan Co., AL. Logan, Robert married
Mccaleb, Jane M. on 14 Nov 1822 in Morgan County, Alabama
I BELIEVE YOU CAN ADD A POSSIBLE THIRD BROTHER TO THIS COOSA/FAYETTE
COUNTY CONNECTION. ROBERT LOGAN WAS BORN IN TENNESSEE IN 1800. WAS IN
FAYETTE/MARION COUNTY BY 1820s. FAMILY LEGEND IS THAT HE CAME TO ALABAMA
WITH BROTHERS HENRY AND JAMES FROM TENNESSEE. ROBERT MARRIED VIRGINIA
JANE McCALEB ON NOV. 14, 1822 IN MORGAN COUNTY. SEVEN OF ROBERT'S EIGHT
SONS SERVED WITH THE FAMED 1st ALABAMA CAVALRY, A UNION REGIMENT FROM NW
ALABAMA THAT SERVED UNDER SHERMAN TILL THE END OF THE CIVIL WAR. KNOWING
THAT FIRST NAMES WERE OFTEN DUPLICATED IN FAMILIES FROM ONE GENERATION TO
ANOTHER IT IS INTERESTING TO NOTE THAT ROBERT HAD SONS NAMED JAMES M. AND
ROBERT HENRY. OTHER SONS WERE DANIEL LAPSLEY, ALEXANDER B., JOHN CALVIN,
ANDREW W., HUGH WHITE, AND HARM DAVID.
Robert Logan was b. TN ca 1800. He m. Virginia Jane "Jennie" McCaleb b.
1804 in Stokes Co., NC. This couple had 12 children and evidently had
removed to AL where my great-grandfather Daniel Lapsley Logan was born to
them in 1823 in Marion Co., AL. He m. Mary Elizabeth Moss b. 1823. One of
their children was Daniel Catherine Logan b. 1862 in Fayette Co. AL. She
m. Levi Slaten Curl b. 1859 Oxford, Calhoun Co., AL. This couple had 11
children all of whom either died young or left the state. I have other
info.
