This family may have descended from the Anderton family living in
Middlesex Co., VA in the 1600's. There are records of Andertons in Surrey
Co., VA in the 1700's. Many North Alabama families came from the area
known as "Southside Virginia" - counties of Brunswick, Surrey, Sussex,
Isle of Wight, Prince George, etc. Families related to the Marshall Co.,
AL Anderton's were Ledbetter, Kirkland, Chambless, Winkles, Sims,
Randles, Hardin, are all found in records of those counties in VA in the
1600's and 1700's. This information was obtained from history compiled in
1984 by James Oran Hardin, of Crewe, VA. Anyone know of Wiley Anderton,
Sr. b. probably ca 1800, in VA???
