Isabel Fitzgilbert was born in 1171 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshrie, Wales.  Isabel Fitzgilbert's father was Richard "Strongbow" Fitzgilbert de Clare , Earl and her mother was Eva (Aoife) MacMurrough.  Her paternal grandparents were Gilbert "Strongbow" de Clare and Isabel (Elizabeth) de Beaumont; her maternal grandparents were Diarmait Na-Ngall Dermont Na-Ngall , King of Leinster/MacMurrough and Mor More O'Toole. She had a sister named Joan.  She was the older of the two children.  She died at the age of 49 in 1220 in Pembroke, Pemborkeshire, Wales.  She was buried in Tintern Abbey, Gloucestershire, England.

‌Isabel Fitzgilbert and William (Strongbow) were married in a religious ceremony in August 1189 in London, Middlesex, England.  They had five sons and six daughters, named William, Gilbert, Richard, Anselm, Walter, Margaret, Maud (Matilda), Eve, Joane, Sibyl and Isabel.
