Maud was born in Breconshire, Wales.  Maud's father was William "Black Will" de Braose Lord Brecknock and her mother was Eva Marshal.  Her paternal grandparents were Reginald Baron de , Lord Abergavenny Braose and Grace Briwere. She had a brother and five sisters, named Peter, Eva, Isabela, Eleanor, Ela and Joan. She had two half-brothers named Sir Roger and Sir William.


Maud's first family with Roger de Mortimer Baron Wigmore

‌Maud and Roger de Mortimer were married in a religious ceremony in 1247 in England.  They had five sons and two daughters, named Ralph, Sir Edmund de Mortimer, Geoffrey, Roger, William, Isabella and Isolde (Iseude).


Maud's second family with Rhys Mechyll ap Rhys Gryg Lord Dynevor

They had a daughter named Gwenllian.
