Robert de was born about 1155 in Tattershall, Horncastle, Lincolnshire, England. Robert de's father was Robert FitzHugh de Tateshal , Sir and his mother was Isabel (Elizabeth) de Welle. His paternal grandfather was Hugh FitzEon de Tateshal , Sir; his maternal grandparents were William de Welle , of Claxby & Well and Miss de Gant. He had two brothers named Philip de and Walter de. He was the second oldest of the three children. He died before September 6th, 1212.General Notes
BARONY of TATESHAL (ancestors of)
ROBERT DE TATESHAL, brother and heir, was sheriff of Lincolnshire in 1198. He was abroad on the King's service in 1201, when he took money to pay the knights of the Archbishop of Canterbury, 1203 and 1206; was royal bailiff in cos. Cambridge and Huntingdon in 1204, and acted as custodian of these two shires in the following year. In 1202 he was granted a market every Thursday at Tattershall. He married, in or before 1202, Rose, daughter of Simon DE WAHULL, of Odell, co. Bedford. He died shortly before 6 September 1212. Rose married, 2ndly, probably in September 1213, Robert DE LISLE.
