Alexander Stewart , 4th High Steward of Scotland 
Alexander was born in 1214 in Dundonald, Ayrshire, Scotland. Alexander's father was Walter Stewart , 3rd High Steward of Scotland and his mother was Beatrix de Angus. His paternal grandparents were Alan FitzWalter , 2nd High Steward of Scotland and Margaret de Galloway; his maternal grandparents were Gilchrist 4th Earl of Angus and Margaret Haraldsdottir. He had a brother and four sisters, named Walter "Ballioch", Elizabeth (Beatrix), Eupheme, Margaret and Miss. He was the second youngest of the six children. He died about 1282 in Dundonald Castle, Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland.General Notes
Alexander Stewart, 4th Great Steward of Scotland; Crusader; Jt Regent of Scotland 1255; as leader of the pro-English party helped kidnap the young Alexander III from Edinburgh Castle; commanded the right wing at the victory over invading Norsemen of Largs 1263, when the Hebrides were brought under Scottish sway, in reward for which was granted Garlies by Alexander III; married Jean, heiress of the Isles of Bute and Arran, daughter of James (who with his father and brothers was killed 1210 by the men of Skye), son of Angus Lord of Bute & Arran (younger son of Somerled, King of the South Isles).
