Thomas de Brotherton was born on June 1st, 1300 in Brotherton, Yorkshire, England.  Thomas de Brotherton's father was Edward I Longshanks King of England and his mother was Marguerite Capet le Hardi de France.  His paternal grandparents were Henry III Plantagenet King of England and Eleanor Berenger de Provence; his maternal grandparents were Philippe III the Bold le Hardi King of France and Marie de Brabant. He had a brother and a sister, named Edmund Plantagenet of Woodstock and Eleanor. He had five half-brothers and twelve half-sisters, named John, Henry, Alfonso Plantagenet, Edward II of Caernarvon, John de Botetourt, Eleanor, Joan, Julian (Katherine), Joan of Acre Plantagenet, Margaret, Berengaria, Elizabeth, Beatrice, Blanche, Mary, Alice and Isabella.  He died at the age of 38 in August 1338.
