Hlodve, who had previously m. Audna, Edna or Ethne, da. of "Kiarval, the Irish King," (f) who seems to have protected him from his sister-in-law, and had issue a son, Sigurd Digri, and two daughters. He d. in his bed circa 988, and was bur, at Hofn in Caithness. He was succeeded by his only recorded son, [Complete Peerage, X:Appendix A:7-8]
(f) Kiarval has not been identified. J. Anderson suggests Cearbhall, King of Dublin and Ossory, but that prince d. 888.
