Matilde was born in 0943.  Matilde's father was King Louis IV "Transmarinus" OF FRANCE and her mother was Princess/ Gerberge OF GERMANY.  Her maternal grandparents were King Henry I OF THE GERMANS Heinrick "The Fowler" and Saint Matilda OF RINGLEHEIM. She had a brother named Charles of Upper Lorraine.  She was the older of the two children. She had two half-sisters named Gerberge and Alberade.
