Anselm was born about 1204 in Pembroke, Pembroke, Wale.  Anselm's father was 3rd Earl Of Pembroke William "The Protector" Marshall 3rd Earl Of Pembroke and his mother was [Countess Of Pembroke Isabel De Clare [Countess Of Pembroke.  His paternal grandparents were John "The Marshall" Fitzgilbert and Sibilla (Sibyl) De Salisbury; his maternal grandparents were [2Nd Earl Pembroke] Richard "Strongbow" Fitzgilbert Richard Strongbow Earl Of Pembroke [2Nd Earl Pembroke]/Clare and [Countess Of Ireland Eve (Aoife) Macmurrough [Countess Of Ireland. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Gilbert VII Earl Of Pembroke, William, Richard, Walter, Sybil, Maud, Eve, Isabel and Joane.  He was the second youngest of the ten children.  He died on December 22nd, 1245 in Chepstow.  He was buried in Tinton Abbey.
