Elizabeth was born in 1322 in Stoke, Gloucestershire, England. Elizabeth's father was Hugh DESPENCER BARON LE DESPENSER and her mother was Eleanore de CLARE BARONESS LE DESPENSER & ZOUCHE. Her paternal grandparents were Hugh le DESPENCER EARL OF WINCHESTER and Isabel BEAUCHAMP; her maternal grandparents were Gilbert "the Red Earl" de CLARE EARL OF GLOUCESTER & HERTFORD and Joan "of Acre" of ENGLAND COUNTESS OF GLOUCESTER & HERTFORD. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Edward, Gilbert, Hugh Le, Margaret, Isabel Le and Joan. She died at the age of 67 on July 13th, 1389. She was buried in St Botulphes.-
