Richard Of Hereford was born in 1153 in Tonbridge Castle. Richard Of Hereford's father was Earl Roger "The Good" Of Hertford & Clare DE CLARE and his mother was Maude DE SAINT HILARY DE HARCOURT. His maternal grandfather was James DE SAINT HILARY. He had three sisters named Mabel, Elana and Aveline. He was the oldest of the four children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named William III Of Arundel and Cicely. He died at the age of 64 in 1217.General Notes
About 1020 Richard II, Duke of Normandy, places Ralph and hisson Roger, along with others, in charge of the castle ofTillieres to hold it against Odo of Chartres, the Duke'sbrother-in-law, who had revolted. Odo attacked the castle butwas routed and barely escaped with his life.
