Richard De was born about 1120 in Of, Clare, Suffolk, England.  Richard De's father was Jr Richard Fitz Gilbert De Richard Fitzgilbert Lord Jr/Clare and his mother was Gernon Adeliza Alice De Meschines Gernon. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Gilbert De, Roger De, Robert, Adeliza De, Rohese De, Adles, Alice De and Rose De.  He was the fourth youngest of the nine children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Roger De and Isabel De.
