Hugh "Magnus" was born in 1057 in Vermandois, Normandy, France.  Hugh "Magnus"'s father was Henry I Capet , King of France and his mother was Anna Yaroslavna , Grand Dutchess of Keiv. He had three brothers and a sister, named Philippe I 'the Fair', Robert, Louis IV, King of France and Emma Capet of.  He was the youngest of the five children. He had a half-brother named Hugh 'the Great'.  He died at the age of 44 on October 18th, 1101 in Tarsus, Asia Minor, leader of First Crusade.  He was buried in Count of Vermandois, Valois, Chaumont and Amiens.

‌Hugh "Magnus" and Adelaide were married in a religious ceremony in 1078.  They had four sons and five daughters, named Raul, Henry, Charles, Guilaume, Matilde, Isabel, Beatrice, Constance and Agnes.
