Gisela of was born about 1060 in Bourgogne, France.  Gisela of's father was William I "The Great" Count of Macon & Burgundy and her mother was Stephanie (Etiennette) de Longwy.  Her paternal grandparents were Renaud I Count Palatine of Burgundy and Alice Adelaide of Normandy; her maternal grandparents were Adalbert III Count Longwy , Duke Upper Lorraine and Clemence de Foix. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Stephen (Etienne) "Tete Hardi" Comte de, Raymond of, Ermentrude of, Bertha of, Matilda of and Clemence Clementia of.  She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.  She died in 1133.
