Joan Burghersh 
Joan was born about 1324 in Burwash, Ticehurst, Sussex, England. Joan's father was Bartholomew 3rd Baron de Burghersh , KG, Sir and her mother was Elizabeth de Verdun. Her paternal grandparents were Robert 1st Baron de Burghersh , Sir and Maud de Badlesmere; her maternal grandparents were Theobald 2nd Baron de Verdun , MP, Sir and Maud de Mortimer. She had a brother and two sisters, named Bartholomew 4th Baron de, Maude de and Elizabeth. She was the second youngest of the four children. She died on October 4th, 1404 in Canterbury Cathedral, Cambridgeshire, England.General Notes
He married, before September 1342, Joan, daughter of Sir Bartholomew DE BURGHERSH [LORD BURGHERSH], by Elizabeth, daughter and coheir of Theobald DE VERDON [LORD VERDON]. To her he gave licence to make her will. He died s.p.m., 15 September 1375. After his death his widow lived much at Court, and had many grants for her good services to the King and Queen. By arrangements made in 1369, she had acquired the virtual ownership of the nucleus of the Mohun estate in West Somerset, and in 1376 she sold the reversion of it to Dame Elizabeth Luttrell, to the disinherison of her own heirs.
