Hugh was born about 1125 in Belvoir Castle, Belvoir, Leicestershire, England and his baptism took place in Of, Framlingham, Suffolk, England.  Hugh's father was [Earl Of East Anglia & Norfolk] Roger Bigod [Earl Of East Anglia & Norfolk] and his mother was Adeliza De Grentmesnelle.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Bigod and Miss St. Saveur; his maternal grandparents were [Lord Hinckle] Hugh De Hugh De [Lord Hinckle]/Grandmesnil and Adeliza (Alice) De Beaumont. He had a sister named Jane.  He was the younger of the two children. He had a half-brother and five half-sisters, named Hugh, Maud (Mary), Maud, Cecily, Gunnora and Jane.  He died in Palestine.  He was buried in Thetford Abbey, Norfolk, England.
