Robert II de was born in of Normandy, France and his baptism took place in St. Martin, of Sees. Robert II de's father was Earl of Arundel Roger de Montgomery Earl of Arundel and his mother was Mabel d' Alencon Talvas. His paternal grandparents were Seigneur Hugues de (Hugh) Montgomery Seigneur and Josceline of Pont-Audemer; his maternal grandparents were Count d' Alencon William II d' Talvas Count d' Alencon and Hildeburge de Beaumont. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Roger de, Arnulph de, Sibyl de and Maude de (Mathilde). He died after May 8th, 1131 in Wareham Castle, Dorset, England. Robert inherited Alcenon in Normandy from his father. His brother, Hugh,
inherited the English lands, but when Hugh died without an heir in 1098,
Robert also succeeded to them, becoming Earl of Arundel and Shrewsbury. All
of his English honors and estates were forfeited to the Crown when he was
exiled in 1102.
Died while imprisoned at Warham Castle
