Isabella Taillefer de was born in 1188 in Angouleme, Charente, Poitou-Charentes, France.  Isabella Taillefer de's father was Aymer (Adhemar) Taillefer de Angouleme and her mother was Alice de Courtenay.  Her paternal grandparents were Guillaume IV Taillefer Comte de Angouleme and Marguerite de Turenne; her maternal grandparents were Peter I Count de Courtenay , Prince of France and Elizabeth de Courtenay.  She was an only child.  She died at the age of 58 on May 31st, 1246 in Fontevault Abbey, Fonervrault, Maine-et-Loire, France.
