Aaron means "bright". A fluent speaker, he was appointed by God to gowith Moses and do th e talking for his tongue-tied brother. He shared theresponsibilities of leading the childre n of Israel from captivity inEgypt, even propping up Moses' arm during a battle with Amalek t o helpinspire the Israelites to victory. Moses took Aaron and other leaders upMount Sinai, an d appointed him and his family to the priesthood.
