Count Mauger was born about 0967. Count Mauger's father was Duke Richard (The Fearless) de Normandy and his mother was Duchess Gunnora de Crepon. His paternal grandparents were Duke William I of Normandy and Espriota de Senslis; his maternal grandparents were Harald II Blaatand Gormsson and Gunhild Olafsdotter. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Count Godfrey, Duke Richard II (The Good), Archbishop Robert, Count Ralph, Hawise, Matilda, Haviose, Beatrix and Emma. He was the fourth oldest of the ten children.-
