Archbishop Robert was born about 0965. Archbishop Robert's father was Duke Richard (The Fearless) de Normandy and his mother was Duchess Gunnora de Crepon. His paternal grandparents were Duke William I of Normandy and Espriota de Senslis; his maternal grandparents were Harald II Blaatand Gormsson and Gunhild Olafsdotter. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Count Godfrey, Duke Richard II (The Good), Count Mauger, Count Ralph, Hawise, Matilda, Haviose, Beatrix and Emma. He was the third oldest of the ten children.-
