Sarah was born in 1838 in Wirksworth, Derby, Eng. Sarah's father was Bartholomew Maskrey and her mother was Sarah Ridgards. Her paternal grandparents were Bartholomew Maskrey and Martha Greatorex; her maternal grandparents were Henry Ridgards and Elizabeth Haslem. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Edward Bartolomew, Henry R., John P., Elizabeth, Mary Anne, Martha M. and Helen. She was the third youngest of the eight children.-
