Martha M. was born on March 8th, 1834 in Erie Co, PA. Martha M.'s father was Bartholomew Maskrey and her mother was Sarah Ridgards. Her paternal grandparents were Bartholomew Maskrey and Martha Greatorex; her maternal grandparents were Henry Ridgards and Elizabeth Haslem. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Edward Bartolomew, Henry R., John P., Elizabeth, Mary Anne, Sarah and Helen. She was the fourth youngest of the eight children.-
