Mary Jane was born in 1791 in Walkers Creek, Virginia. Mary Jane's father was Thomas Wiley and her mother was Jean "Jenny" Sellards. Her paternal grandparents were <Unknown> and <Unknown>; her maternal grandparents were Hezekiah Sellards and Female Brevard. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named Robert Bruce, Tommy, Hezekiah, Adam Brevard, William "Billy", George, Vardey, Sarah "Sally" and Elizabeth. She died before 1885 in Kentucky. She was buried in Big Laurel Creek, Wayne County, West Virginia.-
