John Stuart, 10th Earl of Lennox, created Earl of Darnley c1460, Lord Warden of West March 1481, one of the lords who seized James III 1482 but was pardoned; retoured heir to the Earldom of Lennox 1473 but only became so effectively after compensating the coheirs 1488; Jt Keeper Dumbarton Castle with his son 1488; rebelled but defeated by James IV 1489, though soon pardoned; married (indenture 15 May 1438) Margaret, daughter of 1st Lord Montgomerie, and died Sep 1495.
