Mary's father was William C. Cox and her mother was Catherine Kankey or Kinkey. Her paternal grandparents were John I Cox and Rachel Embree Carr. She had five brothers and three sisters, named William, Harmon, John, Solomon, Thomas, Martha, Catherine and Rebecca.-
