David was born about 1335 in Brechin,Angusshire,Scotland. David's father was Lord David Barclay Of Brechin and his mother was Margaret De Brechin. His paternal grandfather was Sir David De Berkeley; his maternal grandparents were Lord David De Brechin and Margaret De Bonkyl. He had a brother and two sisters, named Hugh, Jean and Christian. He was the second oldest of the four children. He died before September 8th, 1368.¹
