Helena Maria De Santa Teresa's father was João Garcia De Sá Barroso and her mother was Maria Madalena De Castro. Her paternal grandparents were Antônio Garcia De Sá and Maria Dornelles Bittencourt. She had two brothers and a sister, named Tomaz Garcia De, Manoel Garcia De Sá and Ana Dorneles De. She had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Martinho Garcia De, José Garcia De, Lourival Garcia De, Maria Da Purificação and Maria Dorneles De.
Helena Maria De Santa Teresa and Inácio Ferreira De were married in a religious ceremony on November 30th, 1798 in Caicó-Rn. They had a son named Manoel Ferreira De.
