Escolástica Maria De Jesus was born on February 8th, 1745 in Colonia (Uy). Escolástica Maria De Jesus' father was Antônio Do Couto Saraiva and her mother was Isabel Maria Barbosa. Her paternal grandparents were Filipe Do Couto and Mariana De Almeida Saraiva; her maternal grandparents were Francisco De Carvalho De Souza and Domingas Barbosa. She had a brother and a sister, named José Do Carmo and Eufrásia Maria De Jesus. She was the youngest of the three children.
Escolástica Maria De Jesus and João Teixeira were married in a religious ceremony on November 7th, 1765 in Colonia (Uy). They had four sons and two daughters, named Luiz Teixeira, Albino Teixeira, Joaquim Manoel, Francisco Teixeira, Emerenciana and Emerenciana Manuela.
