Marguerite was born about 1160. Marguerite's father was Alain III De Rohan and her mother was Constance De Bretagne. Her paternal grandfather was Alain II De Rohan; her maternal grandparents were Alain II Le Noir De Penthièvre and Berthe De Bretagne. She had a brother and two sisters, named Alain IV Le Jeune, Constance and Margilie. She was the second youngest of the four children. She had two half-brothers named Philippe Ier and Geoffroy Ier.-
