Dulce's father was Alfonso IX Rey De Leon and her mother was Teresa Gil De Soverosa. Her paternal grandparents were Fernando II Rey De Leon and Urraca Princesa De Portugal; her maternal grandparents were Gil Vaz De Soverosa and Maria Aires De Fornellos. She had a brother and two sisters, named Fernando, María Afonso De and Sancha. She had four half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Fernando III "El Santo", Alfonso, Pedro Afonso De, Rodrigo Afonso De, Berenguela, Urraca, Leonor, Urraca Afonso De and Aldonza Afonso De.-
